Tesla starts early Optimus production on its high-volume Fremont line

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, Tesla said early production of the Optimus humanoid has begun in Fremont, where most equipment for a line built for 20,000 units a week is in place; Elon Musk expects at least a year to reach that rate and first deliveries to outside companies around the end of 2027. Tesla also raised its 2026 capital spending outlook to about $20 billion.
