OpenAI says its models disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis and proved the Kakeya conjecture

OpenAI announced AI-produced results submitted for academic review: a claimed refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis checked in Lean, a proof of the local smoothing conjecture in all dimensions (settling the Kakeya and restriction conjectures) and a proof that four-dimensional quantum field theories such as Yang-Mills exist. It also gave $5 million to the Simons Foundation for workshops on AI-produced results.
