DeepSeek V4.1 Flash narrows US lead over Chinese AI to about 3%, Bloomberg Intelligence says

A Bloomberg Intelligence report finds the US lead over top Chinese models has shrunk from about 9% in May to roughly 3% after DeepSeek's September release of V4.1 Flash, which scores 81.1 against 83.4 for Anthropic's Claude Fable 5.1. DeepSeek's model leads on agentic coding, 77.3 to 66.1.
